Clear when you want the view, opaque when you want the room
Smart glass carries a liquid crystal layer laminated inside the pane. Powered, the crystals align and the glass is clear. Switched off, they scatter and the glass turns a solid translucent white — privacy in under a second, with no blinds and nothing mechanical to fail.
What you get with smart glass
Smart glass carries a liquid crystal layer laminated inside the pane. Powered, the crystals align and the glass is clear. Switched off, they scatter and the glass turns a solid translucent white — privacy in under a second, with no blinds and nothing mechanical to fail.
It earns its place where a room needs to be open most of the time and private some of the time: a meeting room, a consultation room, a bathroom wall, a poolside cabana. Where privacy is permanent, frosted glass does the same job for far less money — and we will tell you so.
- Switches in under one second

What we build into every set
Instant switching
Clear to opaque in well under a second, by wall switch, remote, phone app or an occupancy sensor tied into the building system.
Laminated and safe
The active layer sits between two laminated panes, so the glass carries the same safety rating as any laminated unit.
Blocks UV and glare
The interlayer filters the large majority of ultraviolet light, protecting furniture and finishes from fading even in the clear state.
Retrofit film option
Self-adhesive switchable film applied to existing glazing, giving the same effect without replacing the glass — a far cheaper route for a fit-out.
Types of smart glass we supply
Which of these suits the project is a decision we make together at survey stage, against the opening and how it will be used.
Switchable glass partitions
Meeting rooms and manager cabins that stay open and daylit until a confidential conversation starts.
Smart glass in doors and bifolds
Built into bi-folding and sliding leaves, most often for bathrooms, cabanas and internal divisions.
Smart glass film retrofit
Applied to glazing already installed — the practical option when the partition or window is staying and only the privacy needs to change.
Projection and display glass
In the opaque state the surface works as a rear-projection screen, which suits boardrooms and showrooms that need a display without a screen on the wall.
From first visit to handover
Consultation & site survey
We visit the property, measure every opening and talk through how the space is actually used before anything is priced.
Design & specification
Drawings, configurations, glass specification and finishes, set against orientation and exposure rather than picked from a catalogue.
Fabrication & quality check
Profiles are cut and assembled to the surveyed figures in our own workshop, and every unit is checked before it leaves.
Installation & handover
Our own installation team fits, seals and adjusts on site, then walks you through operation and maintenance.

Smart Glass questions
The glass returns to its opaque state, since the clear state is the powered one. It fails to privacy rather than to exposure, which is usually the safer outcome.
Very little — comparable to a small LED fitting for a typical partition, and only while it is clear.
Only when the room genuinely needs to be clear some of the time. If it will be private permanently, frosted or etched glass gives the same privacy at a fraction of the cost, and we would rather specify that.
